The Maltese Synchronised swimming team consisting of 8 girls under the age of 11, took part in the Little Frogs International Competition in Bratislava, Slovakia on the 25th of October. There were 200 participants from 5 different countries.
The hard work and dedication of the synchro girls, under the direction of their excellent coach Saho Harada, achieved top results in this competition. Vanessa Mairangas came first overall winning the gold medal and Hayley Camilleri came third achieving the bronze. Neeve Cauchi, Charlotte Spencer and Victoria Pace placed 4th, 5th and 6th respectively and were awarded a certificate. Furthermore, the team performed a lively synchro swimming routine which was very well received by both the judges and spectators. Coach Saho Harada commented, “It was a great experience for the girls, as well as for me. I gave them very intense training sessions but they never gave up. I am really proud of all of them.”
Synchronised swimming is another aquatic sport recently introduced under the umbrella of ASA. It has flourished rapidly over the past years and these results augur well for the future of this sport!
