Thomas Wareing establishes New 100m Backstroke National Record

In the second day of competition, Thomas Wareing once again established a new record, this time in the 100m Backstroke event.

Wareing’s time of 59.69 beat the previous record of 59:74 he himself established in 2019 in Montenegro.

A number of Easter Meet records were also established today. Sasha Gatt clocked a time of 17:31.50 in the 1500m freestyle Open event, Nirvana Micallef clocked a time of 1:06.52 in the Group E 100m Butterfly event. Michela Portelli established a Meet record in the 100m Butterfly Heat in Group D only to improve on it in the Final. Her final time was 1:06:03 compared to 1:06:66 in the qualifying heat.

The final day of competition will start on Saturday morning at 0900hrs.

The 29th International Easter Meet, which is an official FINA qualifying event, is hosting 265 athletes representing eleven Clubs competing in 76 events.
