Ella Fenech Attard establishes two new Age Group B Records

The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta hosted its 1st Time Trial for the 2022/2023 season on Saturday at the Tal-Qroqq National Swimming pool.

The event welcomed 137 and 159 female athletes representing nine local clubs.  A total of 561 individual events and 35 relay entries were submitted and the event was followed by a sizeable crowd on the spectator stands.

Apart from a good number of Personal Best times from several swimmers, during the event, Ella Fenech Attard established two new Age Group B records. The first record was established in the 100m Butterfly event. She beat the previous record she had set earlier on this year in February, the new record being 01:09,91.   Fenech Attard went on to establish another Age Group record in the 800m freestyle event. Even in this case, she beat her own record, established in March 2022 to register a new time of 10:09,16.

“This season is a highly important one as we get closer to the Games of the Small States of Europe which will take place in Malta in May of next year.  With many athletes having these Games in sight, these time trials are key events in their competitive calendar”, remarked Joe Caruana Curran, President, Aquatic Sports Association of Malta.

The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta, will host the 2nd Time Trials of the season at Tal-Qroqq on Saturday 12th  November at 1400hrs.
